Materials

Wood or composite

Wood is still a good choice when you want it. It looks and feels like a real deck, and with regular sealing it'll last.

Composite, including Trex, holds up to Central Coast sun and moisture without the same upkeep. No sanding or resealing every few years. Trex is one option we install, not the only thing we build with.

Where we work

Where we work

We work along the Central Coast, including Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County.

Process

How a deck job goes

  1. 01Site visit. We come out, look at the house and the space, and talk through how you want to use it.
  2. 02Framing plan. We work out joist spacing, beams, and how the deck ties into the house.
  3. 03Permits when the city requires them. If the job needs plans or a permit, we line that up before work starts.
  4. 04Build. Framing, decking, and trim, with one point of contact the whole way through.

FAQ

Common deck questions

Wood or composite?
Both work. Wood looks great and costs less up front, but it needs sealing and upkeep. Composite takes more of a beating from sun and coastal moisture with a lot less maintenance. We'll walk through both for your deck.
Do you rebuild old decks or only build new ones?
Both. We tear off worn decks and porches, replace what's bad underneath, and rebuild. We also build new decks from scratch.
Do you install Trex?
Yes. Trex is one of the composite options we install, and we can help you pick a color. It's an option, not the only thing we build with.
Do I need a permit?
It depends on the deck and where you live. Permits vary by city and county, so we check what your project needs and handle the permit side when it's required.
